Consent first
Promotional emails, SMS messages and push notifications are sent only to players who agreed to receive them.
Promotions are part of the betting business, and they depend on data: who you are, what you play and when you are likely to read a message. This policy sets out what BetBooker does with your information for marketing, which companies may receive it and how you stay in control. It is written for players in Ghana and sits alongside the general privacy policy and the cookie policy.
Promotional emails, SMS messages and push notifications are sent only to players who agreed to receive them.
Every promotional message contains a way to stop receiving it, and the setting is also available in the account.
We do not send promotions to players who have self-excluded, who are on a time-out or who have been identified as being at risk of harm.
BetBooker does not sell your personal data to other companies.
Terms, wagering requirements and time limits must be stated in the promotion itself, in plain words, before you accept it.
For promotional purposes we may use:
We do not use identity documents, payment credentials, health or financial hardship information, or the content of your conversations with support for marketing.
| Channel | Examples | How to control |
|---|---|---|
| Newsletters, weekly offers, tournament news | Unsubscribe link or account settings | |
| SMS | Time-limited bonus codes, event reminders | Reply with the stop word shown in the message or use settings |
| Push notifications | Match alerts, free bet reminders | Notification settings in the betbooker app or the phone |
| On-site banners | Offers in the cashier or on the homepage | Shown to all logged-in players; they can be closed |
| Telephone | Calls from the account team to selected players | Tell the agent to stop or change the setting |
Service messages are separate. Notifications about a withdrawal, a password change, a security warning or a change in the terms continue even if you opt out of promotions, because they relate to the operation of your account.
BetBooker groups players by behaviour in order to show relevant offers and to improve the service. For example, a player who only bets on football will see football promotions on the homepage, and a player who plays slots on weekends may receive a message about a weekend tournament.
Profiling stays within clear limits:
When you accept a bonus, we process your account data to check that you meet the conditions: first-deposit status, country of residence, the payment method used and whether you already hold another bonus. We keep records of bonuses that were granted and wagered so that we can resolve a dispute. Repeated attempts to collect the same bonus through several accounts, or to use another person’s documents, are treated as abuse and may lead to the loss of the bonus and account restrictions.
Companies that send emails, SMS messages and push notifications on our behalf receive your contact details and the text of the message. They may use the data only to deliver it.
Tools that measure the performance of campaigns receive technical data and pseudonymous identifiers. Some of them place cookies, which are described in the cookie policy and are subject to your choice.
If you consent, we may use the services of advertising platforms to show our adverts to people who resemble our current players or to exclude registered players from adverts for new customers. This is done with hashed identifiers, so that the platform does not receive your plain email address or phone number in readable form. You can withdraw consent for this at any time.
Marketing partners who introduce new players to BetBooker Ghana receive aggregated reports about the number of sign-ups and deposits that they brought. They do not receive your name, contact details or betting history.
We do not pass personal data to sponsors. Competition winners are announced by username or first name and an initial, and only after the winner agrees.
If you invite a friend, we ask you to provide only the contact details that your friend has agreed to share, and we send one invitation message with your name. If the friend does not register, we delete the contact details after the invitation expires. If the friend registers, both accounts are linked for the purposes of the reward. Please do not upload your phone contacts to anyone without their permission.
Participation in competitions and surveys is voluntary. Data collected for a competition is used to run it, to select and contact winners, and to meet legal duties connected with prizes. A survey is used to improve our service, and the results are analysed in a combined form. When you interact with BetBooker on social media, the platform processes your data under its own policy, and we see only what the platform shows to page owners, such as your public name and comments.
BetBooker excludes the following from promotions:
If you think that promotions are encouraging you to play more than you wish, switch them off in the settings and consider using deposit limits. Our responsible gambling policy describes the available tools.
BetBooker presents offers in a way that a player can understand before accepting. Each promotion states the minimum deposit, the wagering requirement, the games or markets that count, the expiry date and the maximum amount that can be withdrawn from bonus winnings. We do not describe betting as a way to earn a living or to solve money problems, we do not use images or wording that appeal to minors, and we do not suggest that gambling improves social or personal success.
Advertising in Ghana is subject to the Gaming Act, 2006 (Act 721) and to rules set by the Gaming Commission, and we follow them when we prepare banners, messages and partner materials. Messages sent by SMS contain the name of the operator and a clear way to stop them, and we avoid sending promotions late at night, because they can encourage impulsive play. A player who complains about a message receives a reply that explains what was sent, why it was sent and how the setting can be changed.
Old or wrong contact details cause messages to reach the wrong person, which is a privacy problem in itself. We remove addresses that bounce, numbers that return an error and tokens of devices where the app was uninstalled. We also maintain a suppression list: a short record of contacts that must not be messaged, for example players who opted out, who self-excluded or who asked to be forgotten. Before every campaign is sent, the audience is compared with this list, and any match is removed automatically. The list holds a protected form of the contact, so that it cannot be used for any other purpose.
Marketing preferences and contact details used for promotions are kept while you stay subscribed and for a short period afterwards to make sure that your opt-out is respected. Campaign statistics are stored in a combined form for up to three years. Records that show when and how you gave or withdrew consent are retained for the period needed to prove compliance.
Marketing messages rely on your consent, and some profiling for service improvement relies on our legitimate interest. Under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), you may withdraw consent, object to direct marketing, ask for access to the data we use and complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana. Withdrawing consent never limits your access to games or to your balance.
